Prof. Maik Huttemann was awarded for his oral communication during Targeting Mitochondria Congress
During the 8th World Congress on Targeting Mitochondria which was held in October on October 23-24, 2017, the scientific committee discerned the WMS Oral Communication Award to Prof. Maik Hüttemann, from Wayne State University, USA for his presentation on "Modulation of cytochrome C oxidase activity with specific near-infrared light wavelengths attenuates brain ischemia/reperfusion injury".
Testimonial from Prof. Hüttemann: "I am truly honored by this recognition and I very much appreciate the award, especially from this group of scientists. This is the first time that I have presented openly about our work on specific infrared light frequencies and ischemia/reperfusion injury, and I selected this platform/conference because I felt it to be most suitable. I was really surprised by the positive feedback I received including the award, because, usually, scientists or people in general have a difficult time to be open to new ideas. But this is clearly not the case for the Targeting Mitochondria audience, who, in my opinion, is clearly ahead of the game and open and welcoming to new ideas - this is so rare but so needed. Since participating in the Targeting Mitochondria Conference in 2014 for the first time, I did not miss a single meeting for the above-mentioned reasons. I believe that you and Targeting Mitochondria team is doing an incredible job putting together an annual conference that is clearly different to what else is out there, including the really needed translational aspects, so I would like to thank you for that as well."
