Mitochondrial Complexome Profiling: A New Diagnostic and Mechanistic Window into Respiratory Chain Disease.
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ilka Wittig (Goethe University, Germany) will join Targeting Mitochondria 2026 as a speaker.
Prof. Wittig is internationally recognized for her pioneering work on mitochondrial protein complexes, respiratory chain organization, and complexome profiling.
Her research helps us look deeper inside the mitochondrion: how energy-producing complexes are built, how they interact, and what happens when this machinery becomes unstable in disease.
At WMS 2026, her lecture will show how complexome profiling can help decode respiratory-chain dysfunction and open new perspectives for mitochondrial diagnosis, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic strategies.
To better treat mitochondrial diseases, we need to understand not only that mitochondria fail, but how they fail.
